 Israeli President Shimon Peres attends a memorial ceremony for late Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, marking the 16th anniversary of his assassination, at the Mt. Herzl cemetery in Jerusalem, Israel marked 16 years since Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated by an Israeli extremist who opposed his concessions for peace with the Palestinians.

Israel marks the 16th anniversary of the assassination of the late prime minister and Nobel Peace laureate, who led the way in the effort towards peace between Israelis and Palestinians. Rabin was assassinated in Tel Aviv by a Jewish extremist.
